Last month, Tuck Case posted an interview with the critically acclaimed Ellusionist playing card designer, Lee McKenzie. At the end of the interview, we hinted at an upcoming project that would blow you away.
"...in the coming weeks there will be more information about Lee McKenzie being posted on Tuck Case. For now I will call it a “follow up interview with a special treat” for everyone! Get excited!"
The wait is over for that special treat. Today, June 18, Lee McKenzie launched the EMPIRE Playing Card project on Kickstarter. This is Lee's first solo playing card project under the newly formed Kings & Crooks Playing Card Co. The project will last 31 days and cease funding on July 18, 2013. If funded, the project is estimated to ship in December 2013.

EMPIRE Playing Cards feature epic imagery that is completely custom from the pips to the backs to the tiniest details on the tuck case. EMPIRE turns traditional playing cards into a royal and majestic masterpiece that makes the perfect deck for any magician, hustler, gambler and/or cardist. The deck includes multiple Latin and English phrases and bold symbols of strength and courage. The entire deck is weaved together with one major theme that is written on the tuck case: "Be Bold. Build Your Empire. Carve Your Dreams On The Face Of The Earth." And that is what Lee McKenzie is doing with this brand new deck of cards.
If funded, the deck will be printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC). It will also feature the finest stock and performance finish that USPCC has to offer. Although Lee is based in the UK, all decks will ship out of the US so as a US backer do not worry about additional shipping charges as you will not incur any. International/non-US backers have shipping costs posted with each reward level.
Because the project uses UK currency, the total US price of your pledge = [Pledge Amount] X [1.57].
Stay posted for Part II of this post as Tuck Case will post an in-depth interview with Lee about the EMPIRE Playing Card Project.

Thanks a lot for the hard work Scott! Article looks great :)
ReplyDeleteThis deck is incredible.
ReplyDeleteProbably the deck i'm (personally and professionally) most excited about so far this year. I love the attention to detail, and can't wait to see those court cards in the 'flesh'. Look forward to seeing how Kings & Crooks develops as a company.
ReplyDeleteEvan, Paul, Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteIn regards to Kings & Crooks, I'm with you ;)
