5 Things You Should Know About Kings Wild's Verum Videre Playing Cards

Mark your calendars, We just got news that Kings Wild's Verum Videre Playing Cards will be released this Friday. Jackson Robinson, founder of Kings Wild originally teased the letterpressed tuck on Instagram last week but no further information about the deck or firm release date was mentioned, until now...

Here's what we know about Verum Videre decks so far:

1. "Verum Videre" means "See the truth" in Latin and will be released this Friday exclusively on Kingswildproject.com

2. There will be 2 editions available: White and Gold. Both are printed by the United States Playing Card Co. on Bee Casino Stock with embossed Finish and features 5 Metallic Inks on the court cards.

3. The Verum Videre White Edition Playing Cards will be priced at $24 each with only 900 available for sale.

4. The Gold Edition of Verum Videre Playing Cards will be very limited! Only 72 were made available for sale at $48 each.

5. Both tuck cases were letterpressed by Jackson on his 1963 Heidelberg Windmill Press and individually hand assembled.

News: Theory11 In Partnership With (Red) Releases The (PRODUCT)RED Playing Cards

Theory11 in partnership with (RED) in the fight to end AIDS, has released the (PRODUCT)RED Playing Cards on Black Friday, their third and final release after the Amethyst JAQK and SNL Playing Cards.

As the name suggests, the deck spots a striking deep red colorway and features a simplistic tuck hot-stamped with a layer of white foil, blind embossed and sealed with a black stamp.

The face cards are standard and the card backs are minimalistic, which is exclusively licensed by The Blue Crown's Alex Pandrea. The Ace of Spades and Jokers are custom.

News: Theory11 Releases JAQK Amethyst Edition Playing Cards

THREE new releases from Theory11 last week and this one is the one that got me most excited! The Amethyst Edition of the timeless JAQK Playing Cards. The JAQKs is one of my favorite playing card series, and the striking purple is truly breathtaking.

News: Saturday Night Live Playing Cards by Theory11

One of 3 releases by Theory11 on Black Friday, the Saturday Night Live Playing Cards are a fitting tribute to the popular show that has entertained audiences of all ages since 1975.

News: The Story Behind Alex Pandrea's X-Deck

Ok... where do I begin with this one? The X-Deck is an Uber-Limited deck with only 250 decks in circulation and is the third deck released following the Bicycle Inspire Red and the NOC Outs Black Edition. Not much is known about this deck when it was released as part of the Blue Crown holiday giveaway. So we asked Alex Pandrea, founder of the Blue Crown about the design and the significance of the 3 X's.

This deck was designed to celebrate my 30th birthday. X is 10, and 3 X's is 30 - DUH lol... ALSO I was born on October 10th (10/10).... and at 10:00 ... so that's another 3 10's. You can see how all this comes together - enough said haha..!

The tentative name given is the X-Deck. Alex continued,

I am familiar of another x deck on the market so I might change the name not to have this confused with other "deck"... if you can even call it that.

Deck View: Gold Madison Rounders Playing Cards

Gold. Minimal. Rare.

From Ellusionist, the Gold Madison Rounders is a tribute to the White Rounders, Daniel Madison's favorite deck from his own line of playing cards. The Gold Rounders is the second deck playing cards release on Black Friday 2017, along with Talons Playing Cards.

The deck features a minimalistic tuck box with the Madison spades on the front and mirrored iconic emblem on the back printed in stunning gold foil. I don't know what it is, but the white space and gold foil made the simple tuck look really attractive!

Inside, the card stock is thicker from the other Madison decks due to the MetaLuxe printing on the card backs. The backs feature two gold Madison emblems on a white card back. Simple but effective. Apart from the King of Diamonds, the face cards are standard in a Red/Black colorway, including the court cards. The jokers and Ace of Spades are carried over from the White Rounders.

News: NOC Out Black Edition by HOPC

The second release (following the Bicycle Inspire Red) from the Blue Crown is the NOC Outs Black Edition! Alex Pandrea wanted to create a borderless NOC deck and this is the result. It sort of still has a border but can be used as a borderless design to take advantage of false shuffles, deals, etc...

On the design, Alex told Kardify,

My all-time favorite deck. period. I was initially going to make the faces black but... eww? 

This deck features everything you know and love about the NOC Out White edition, but inverted to display a classy and elegant black deck of cards. The design is simple but effectively implemented.

News: The Bicycle Inspire Red Deck by The Blue Crown

The Blue Crown released three decks of playing cards this holiday season. The first is the Bicycle Inspire Red deck. Designed by Randy Butterfield of Midnight Cards, the concept is to have a deck that will motivate you to do whatever you want. Alex Pandrea, founder of the Blue Crown told Kardify,

I wanted to have a deck that means something rather than just slap a generic logo on each side of the back design like everyone does. Nobody has any creativity or care about what their playing cards mean to them or their customers. I really tried to change that. FIRST is to instill a childlike feeling of the first time you achieved something- like riding a bicycle. You might fall, but you get up. you might doubt yourself but you find the confidence to get on it and achieve your goal.

News: Ellusionist Unleashes Talons Playing Cards

One of two releases by Ellusionist on Black Friday, Talons Playing Cards is a striking deck that commands attention. The deck is a fascinating mixture of retro-style illustrations combined with modern design.

Fully custom from the bold Ace of Spades, card backs to the jokers and court cards, the deck spots a hot rod orange colorway used throughout the deck.

The other consistent design element of the deck is lighting. Much like the claws on a bird of prey, it is a unique manifestation of power and cunning, just like as a deck of playing card, the weapon of choice for magicians. Cardistry: The Virts Just Sent The Cardistry Community Into A Frenzy!

Early Thursday morning (November 23rd), a black and white image of the Virtuoso deck appeared online. In the image posted to Instagram by The Virts, the image features the side of the tuck with the iconic Virts logo, but the colors and design elements remain unknown. There are also no details as to when cardists may be able to get their hands on the deck.

The teaser image generated over 5000 likes and 500 comments, with cardists expressing their excitement in anticipation of the release. Many speculate about the colors of the deck. We know that it will be called the Fall/Winter 17 Edition and will be released before Christmas (fingers crossed!). With the colors, we are guessing that it will be something cool.. purple, blue and maybe an emerald shade. What do you think it will look like?

News: The Fourth Edition Of The Orbit Deck Has Landed!

Just in time for the holiday season, magician Chris Brown (@orbitbrown) released the Fourth Edition of the popular Orbit deck. The Orbit deck was originally crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in 2015, the second edition came out in 2016 and the third in mid-2017. For the Fourth Edition, Chris wanted to give everybody a chance to own one. In his write-up Chris said,

We printed 23,000 because we don’t care about breaking sales records or selling out in one hour, we care about everybody getting a chance to own these so they can complete their Orbit deck collection. Our customer base has grown exponentially and we think we are ready for the expansion of volume with our 23,000 decks weighing in at a little over 2 and a half tons.

What caught our eye about the Fourth Edition is the update of the card backs. The first three orbit decks had a very prominent central O symbol, which boldly defines the Orbit brand decks. In the new Edition, a new design element has been added already recognizable card backs. The solid line orbital path is simple yet effective, making fans and spread even more attractive with the Orbit deck. On the design, Chris said,

The borders were made a bit thinner than before to ensure the white shuttle line was noticeable in the spread. The black and white combo makes this deck a visual treat that will be hard to top.

On the popularity of the Orbit decks, Chris tells Kardify,

The support I have been receiving from the community is monumental. I was not prepared for this level of response. It inspires me to try harder to keep the support coming because I feel that support should be earned with each project. I shouldn't automatically receive support merely because of who I am. I put all of my heart into every bit of each project because to me it's a part of me that I am giving to the world and the world deserves nothing short of the best.

Card Gear is our monthly feature dedicated to discovering new inventory, setup, and accessories used every day by card designers, cardists, magicians and collectors. The concept originated from the popular social media site, Instagram: #passthepockets. Mike's EDC is by far one of the coolest Card Gear we've seen in a long time! Better known as @thedoc318 on Instagram, Mike's account is one of the most visually inspiring playing cards related accounts we follow on Instagram. Recently, Mike successfully funded the Oculus Playing Cards with Randy Butterfield of Midnight Cards.

As for the backpack of toys? Autism is the world Mike lived, worked and loves for over 20 years, so he explores different sensory uses for anything and everything he finds. News: Bicycle Mythical Creatures Playing Cards by Sextante Studio

The Bicycle Mythical Creatures Playing Cards is a fully custom deck featuring legendary mythical creatures from Greek, Norse, Egyptian and East Asian mythology designed by Sextante Studio for Gent Supply Co.

Illustrated by Gustavo Borboa (@GuzoBorboa), a lot of thought has gone into the design of the deck. Each suit represents a different pantheon: Spades - Greek, Clubs - Norse, Diamonds - Egyptian and Hearts - East Asian.

The mirrored back design is decorated with symbols and iconic elements of the four suits. Also, each of the court cards and Aces are represented by a mythical creature from the culture.

On the design, Guzo told Kardify,

Working for United States Playing Card Company is a dream come true, I worked out each creature in detail to represent its strength, magic and majesty. The whole deck is full of symbols of the four cultures integrated subtly to endow each card with mystery.

Deck View: Pearl (Gilded Edition) Tally Ho Playing Cards

Stunning. Gilded. Luxurious.

The Pearl Tally Ho is the final deck in a four deck series by Kings Wild Project. The series has always been a personal one for creator Jackson Robinson and the Pearl Edition is not different being dedicated to his mother. The beautiful deck includes an embossed, pearlescent paper stock, hot foil stamped tuck case and numbered seals.

The cards themselves have completely custom courts with metallic ink accents on the face cards presented in a gorgeous pearl-pale off-white colorway and subtle metallic ink on the bold back design. Cardistry: That Happened in The U.S.A - Chapter 1: New York

Following Art of Play's the release of the official Cardistry-Con 2017 video, the team at Cardistry Touch released a series of videos on their journey Cardistry-Con. Directed by François Dubois, the first chapter features notable cardists such as Dimitri Arleri, Ladislas Toubart, Patrick Varnavas, Quentin Gaspard, Kevin Ho, Frank Sung, Adam Kerchman and Matt Fox in New York.

Kickstarter: Choice Cloverback Playing Cards Designed by Ben Kolozsi

Penguin Magic has just added 2 new colorway to the Choice lineup - Classic Red and Casino Brown. Designed by the talented Ben Kolozsi (Instagram: @benkolozsi) the new editions are an update to the popular Blue Choice Playing Cards released back in 2016. Ben tells us about the collaboration with Penguin Magic,

It was awesome to work with Penguin Magic and Kevin Reylek again in creating this update. It may be hard to notice at first but we improved a lot of little things with the design. 

On the new editions, Kevin said,

In creating the new edition, we didn't want to just change the color - we wanted to make the deck perfect. It was already close, but we've tweaked the design to be perfectly symmetrical and to blend the various elements together even more seamlessly. This tribute to one of the most popular and hard-to-find deck designs is better than ever.
