Art of Play Releases the Golden Sunrise Playing Cards

Of all the new decks released by Art of Play on Black Friday, the Golden Sunrise playing cards are probably my favorite. Inspired by American classic American diner, the deck is designed by Antonio Martinez and Alba Zapata (Instagram: @albazapata.design).

With its vibrant retro colors and gorgeous artwork, the deck is guaranteed to bring a bit of nostalgia to your game nights.

The deck is fully custom, from the charming aces, jokers to the card backs showcasing jukebox, sundae, and milkshakes. Also, the colorful court cards feature cool characters you may find in a classic diner when you drive down Route 66.

I love how the theme, artwork, and elements came together perfectly in a neat little package. The deck comes with a vibrant letterpress printed tuck case and sealed with a vintage-style tax stamp.

DKNG's Black Wheel Playing Cards by Art of Play

Ellusionist Releases Jurassic Park Playing Cards!

Ellusionist in collaboration with Universal Studios and the Jurassic Park franchise has released Jurassic Park Playing Cards on Black Friday. The deck is inspired by the original Jurassic Park movie back in the 90s and sports a retro look and feel. It looks like it has been left in the long-abandoned park and savaged by 25 years of tropical storms.

On the outside,  the old school Jurassic Park emblem brings back memories1 The tuck features a textured feel and you will immediately notice the claw mark of the ferocious raptor! Nice touch! It adds an element of danger and surprise to the deck.

Aegis & Nemesi Playing Cards by Thirdway Industries

Just found out about these... The Aegis & Nemesi Playing Cards by Thirdway Industries. The two decks are limited and combine Minerva and Neptune deck with a digitally printed tuck box. Due to a production problem during the Odissea project, some of the original Minerva and Neptune tuck boxes were lost, so there were some USPCC cards without a box.

To rectify the issue, Giovanni Meroni and Gamblers Warehouse produced some new digital boxes for the loose cards: Aegis and Nemesi. According to Giovanni,

Aegis and Nemesi are tuck swaps of Minerva and Neptune, so I’ve decided to use two words that represent indirectly the two Gods of the main decks, to make them recognizable, but new. Apart from colors and name, there are subtle differences between Minerva/Aegis and Neptune/Nemesis.

Despite they’re being limited in nature, Giovanni has decided to keep a very low price during the Black Friday Week. There is no limit on the numbers of those you can purchase, and because the limited discount and low number, those can be sold out very fast. Get them while you can!

1. Six Foot Five, Limited Edition Playing Cards ($25)

As a way of saying thank you for his many years of support and help as a playing card designer, Jackson Robinson designed and produced this limited edition deck for his brother, Taylor. The Six Foot Five deck is a very limited run of 250 decks. Each deck comes hand numbered. The cards were printed by The Expert Playing Card Company and the tucks case was intaglio engraved by Artistry Ink Engraving and Embossing. The deck features beautiful metallic blue and gold inks and the tuck case as a stunning dual colored effect using Artistry Ink's specially mixed, in-house golden blue ink called "Peacock Blue".


2. Verum Videre Anniversary 2nd Edition ($25)

A follow-up to the Verum Videre first edition, which was produced to usher in a new chapter for Kings Wild Project. Deck View: Draconian WIGHT Playing Cards

Dragons. Ice. Fantasy.

Midnight Card Company released the Draconian WIGHT Playing Cards earlier this year on Kickstarter. The latest edition is inspired the latest season of Game of Thrones. Designer Randy Butterfield was watching Game of Thrones and he was immediately inspired to do a white / ice version of his popular Draconian design.

Like its predecessors, the Draconian WIGHT features hypnotic borderless back design and the face cards feature random fire/crackle fissures of Blue over a subtle light grey background. The fissures are also incorporated into the designs of the pips, courts, Aces, and Jokers. The Classic Courts are flanked with the Dragon scales spiral-shaped.

The deck is housed in an eye-catching premium Matte tuck box with blue foil and clear UV Spot Ink on the white dragon scales! Cardistry: Thoughts on the Cardistry Touch PULSE Deck

Recently we managed to get our hands on the Limited Edition Cardistry-Con PULSE deck by Cardistry Touch to see how they look and feel. Visually, the deck sports a darker tone to the ORIGINS and instead of the repeating triangular red/blue patterns, the deck features diagonal speed line patterns with a contrasting orange/yellow accent on the right corner.

Due to the darker contrasting colors, PULSE is definitely more eye-catching. Displays, fans, and springs stand out more especially with the orange/yellow accents.

Like Origins, the face cards have a unique one-way repeating geometric design on each card. However, the darker color palette means the geometric shapes are muted and subdued. A red/orange pattern in the middle and the bottom right give the face cards a touch of fun and youthful energy.

Printed by Cartamundi on the popular C9 stock, the handling is incredible- smooth and snappy! Fanning and springing the cards feel really satisfying especially with the sound of the cards springing through the air.

The cards are kept secured in a unique swivel tuck box. Personally, I am not a fan of the swivel box as I find the motion of opening the tuck and removing the deck a little unnatural. However, it does look really cool and sure to turn heads when you pop those PULSE cards out of the tuck.

Overall, an excellent deck that handles incredibly well with an eye-catching design that is sure to turn heads for your card flourishes.
