I love this new deck from Art of Play. Messymod is a minimalist, delightful and weird deck of playing cards conceived by the Los Angeles based creative team, TRÃœF born from their love of geometry, pattern, white space, Bauhaus, and Miró and mashed it all into a style called Messy Modernism – “messymod” for short.
On the collaboration, Art of Play said,
After being introduced to their work earlier this year we knew right away we had to collaborate on a deck. Seven months later and we couldn't be more happy with the outcome.
The deck features a completely custom design in typical Messymod fashion which can be described as minimal, modern, graphic, and quirky. According to TRÃœF on their site,
We started with a minimalist exploration of the plant, animal and plankton worlds using simple shapes and limited color. Although the thought process is messy and loose, the style is organized, balanced, graphic, delightful, and just plain weird.
What we love about this deck is that each card has its own presence and personality, making it an ideal piece of artwork that can stand on its own.
The deck is packaged in a premium letterpress-printed tuck box both inside and out. Printed by the U.S. Playing Card Co. on trademark thin stock preferred by cardists.
Available from Art of Play for only $12.
