Discounted Blue Kittens Playing Cards on Ellusionist

Ellusionist "Kittens" Playing Cards is back with a BLUE colorway and at a discounted price due to the markings on the diamonds printed backward in their sequence. According to Ellusionist on the product page,
This means you won’t be able to use the covert markings to read any diamond card selected with accuracy. All the other markings are fine, functional, and unaffected. Just Ace to King of diamonds. To save the environmental cost of shipping these back from California to Belgium... we’ve decided not to scrap these and start again.

If you weren’t using these primarily as a marked deck, then you won’t notice the difference. The deck comes in a violet/blue colorway that is a reminiscence of a 70s souvenir deck.

The tuck features a knitted design artwork with the word kittens on the front and the cards inside feature kittens on the Ace of Spades and two-way backs.

You can love them as a normal, unmarked deck and we’ll pass the lack of re-shipping cost on to you for the mistake. The Blue Kittens are printed by Cartamundi on their sought-after E7 stock and the handle incredibly! Good value for $8 on Ellusionist.

First Look at The Carbon Deck(s)

[Update] The Carbon Decks are now LIVE on Kickstarter!

Elemental Playing Cards are back with the 3rd installment of the popular series and this time around in collaboration with Luke Wadey for the Carbon Deck(s). The deck is scheduled to launch on in a few hours on Kickstarter (23rd June). The Carbon Deck campaign will be the first element in the line to feature 2 editions- Carbon Diamond Edition and Carbon Graphite Edition.

Diamond and Graphite are both are well-known minerals. Both are made of carbon atoms arranged in a crystalline structure. However, that is where their similarities end and in fact could not be any more different from one another. It is because of these differences that Nick Nisco decided to make both these decks as different from one another as possible

Carbon Diamond Edition has a 2-way back design with an included marking system geared more towards magicians, whilst Carbon Graphite Edition has a 1-way full bleed back design geared more towards cardists.

Carbon Diamond Edition was designed with magicians in mind. The two way back design features a familiar central circle design element that is inspired by the Tally-Ho Circle Backs. The design is meant to represent a round-cut diamond using a mosaic of various shapes and shades of black and white. The darker background coupled with this mosaic gives off an optical illusion of a diamond shimmering in the light. Around the perimeter of the diamond, you will also see the words "Diamond Edition."

Carbon Graphite Edition features a one-way design and semi-border/full bleed aiming to create unique and interchangeable fans. The focal feature is a large hexagon, it's textured and asymmetric gradients establishing a point of reference in your flourishes. Large pencil strokes run off the upper left side corner - the effect of scribbling in one place as if you were roughening up a freshly sharpened pencil helping to create dark areas during fans and spreads.

The face cards are completely standard except for the court cards and the ace of spades. Each of the court cards is done in black and white and has the diamond mosaic weaved throughout the garment each court card. The fading and smudging effect is prominently featured on the Graphite Edition. The designs also inhabit modified eyes, with the lower eyelid lines being removed for a cleaner finish, and overall result in a sense of familiarity whilst remaining distinctly individual.

The ace of spades follows a similar motif as the previous decks in the Elemental Playing Card line. It features an enlarged spade pip and in the center of the pip is Bohr's atomic model for carbon. The model includes carbon's atomic number, symbol, and the number of valence electrons.

Both editions of the deck will feature 3 jokers that were hand-drawn. The first shows an open hand holding piece of graphite. The second a closed fist around that piece of graphite with the words "pressure" underneath. And finally, the third joker shows the hand opened up once more, now with a piece of diamond.

The tuck design continues to follow the same motif as previous editions which a large circle on the front of the tuck that wraps around the sides. The element symbol "C" for carbon found in the center with the word "carbon" written underneath. "Diamond Edition" is written above the "C". The graphite tuck uses a deep grey to replicate that of pencil lead, contrasting with the white of the diamond edition.

Deck View: Pinball Playing Cards

Nostalgic. Geometric. Energy.

Released in 2018, BOCOPO Playing Card Co.'s Pinball Playing Cards is a nostalgic tribute to the best game included with the Windows OS. The virtual pinball table with blinking lights and arcade sounds, 3D Pinball seemed like magic back in the 90s and this deck is designed to bring the magic back into your hands. The deck sports a contrasting blue, white, and beige colorway, which makes the design pop!

The card backs feature a borderless geometric design inspired by the game. The face cards are fully custom and the geometric design from the backs have been applied throughout. The courts and Ace of Spades, in particular, are very well done! The color palette adds energy and fun to the deck. The pips have been redesigned and work well with the overall theme of the deck. However, at first glance, the pips have the same color scheme and style, making it hard to distinguish each suit. However, once you get used to it, there are no problems.

The designer did a good job of bringing back the excitement of the retro game. Printed by the U.S Playing Card Co. and available NOW from bococpo.com for $11.95.

Team Pinto Playing Cards, a Real Estate Themed Deck on Kickstarter

Only 3 more days on Kickstarter, Team Pinto Playing Cards is a real estate themed deck, designed with for cardists, magicians, collectors in mind. Having a fond appreciation for cardistry, magic, sleight of hand magic, and of playing cards as an incredible form of art, Aron Pinto wanted to introduce to the world what he believes to be the first fully custom real estate themed deck!

One of his priorities when designing it was to create a deck that while conserving the beautiful style and tradition of the classic deck and court cards, would also introduce something new, exciting, and different for people to enjoy! Fully custom, each card in the deck has been carefully designed and drawn by Aron together with the talented artist Viktor Zybin from Tagnarog in South Western Russia!

If you look at the deck carefully, you will spot a few subtle real estate related symbolism such as houses and keys throughout the artwork. All of the court cards are formally dressed in a suit, tie, and business formal attire, ready for the most complex of real estate transactions!

One incredible aspect of the artwork is that they were drawn so much in the traditional style that you almost forget that the courts are not dressed in this type of formal clothing in the traditional court cards.

The card backs were crafted with the art of card flourishing in mind. Although simplistic, the design is bold yet striking! The house icons are symmetric and give an arrow type of effect for displays and motion. It also includes a small red dot as the doorknob in order to add a subtle yet powerful element to the visual effect.

Team Pinto Playing Cards will be produced with Art of Play and the USPCC. Pledge starts at $12 on Kickstarter.

Kickstarter: The Keys Playing Cards by Paper Poetry

Now on Kickstarter, Keys Playing Cards is a simplistic deck inspired on the common everyday object. On the product page,
Keys are everywhere in our everyday life, both as physical objects and concepts. We give the keys of our heart to our loved one, we close doors with the past and open new ones to get along in life. Keys can have different meanings, they can represent freedom or the loss of it, opening and closure, a new beginning or an end. They symbolize curiosity and the unknown, a purpose or a goal, imprisonment or power.

Designed by the team at Paper Poetry (Instagram: @paperpoetrycards), the team wanted to empower an everyday object by representing it in a very simplistic but yet elegant way. The card back is simplistic, elegant, and recognizable with a crossed keys mirrored designed on a Royal Blue background with a thin white border.

The courts are pretty much standard but personalized with Daniel Schneider Court cards with clean and sharp line work. The Kings now hold keys, new details on the Queen’s dresses, and all swords and hatchets removed.

The custom aces are unique, sophisticated, and yet familiar. Paper Poetry has offered them a "frame" represented as a key chain Hotel vintage-style with an elegant tassel.

The deck is kept in a custom tuck case printed on matte finish stock. Keys with red tassels are prominently featured on the front, consistent with the card backs. Keys will be printed by Cartamundi.

Pledge starts from $14 on Kickstarter.

The Sandwich Series Playing Cards- Only 1 More Week!

Check out this new deck series from Deckidea. The Sandwich Series is a collection of decks with tuck boxes made to look like photo-realistic food ingredients to make your own sandwich.

On the inspiration behind the deck, Jason Cheng, founder of Deckidea said,
Being a foodie, I wanted to combine my love of Sandwiches and playing cards. I used that as a concept, and 100+ hours of work later, “the Sandwich Series” was born.🍞

There are three versions are available to make your own deck sandwich- bread, egg, and luncheon meat. Fully custom, the deck features a stylish illustration that will surely appeal to both sandwich lovers & card collectors alike.

The card back of each version is the ingredients of a good breakfast sandwich- bread, egg, and luncheon meat. The Aces are dishes made from the ingredients and the court cards depict a chef cooking.

Also, the jokers are also designed to be at different cooking stages of an ingredient, (i.e. from Egg Shell to Scramble Egg), perfect for a quick fun sleight of hand magic trick.

The decks will be printed by Cartamundi on True Linen B9 Finish with SlimLine paper stock. Pledge starts at $11 on Kickstarter. Add-ons such as half-brick boxes and tote back are also available to keep your sandwich secure.

Kickstarter: Blueprint Playing Cards

Now on Kickstarter, Blueprint Playing Cards is a technical themed deck designed by Enrica Martiné. The fully custom deck sports a blue colorway and features design elements used in blueprints. On the design, Enrica told Kardify,
I love the plan. Architectural ones are my favorite, especially when laid out in a blueprint. I love visualizing the dissection of a building or an object, and I love playing cards.

Combining both interests, 'The Blueprint' playing card deck was born. Inside, the artwork on each card is unique, with varying textures and quirks. Enrica continued,
I wanted to bring authenticity to each card, so I spent a lot of time coming up with ways to represent the suits and individual cards in a unique and stylish way.

The traditional elements are tightly intertwined with many innovative details, creating an aesthetically pleasing deck. The blue-toned squared paper on the face and card backs gives the blueprint theme a touch of class. The Ace cards of each suit are really special. Enrica explained,
I have taken extra care and time to showcase the relevant suit, by breaking down the component element in great detail - all within the blueprint theme.

The deck is packaged in a matching bespoke, luxury tuck case featuring a wraparound design, edged in crystal white (or metallic if first stretched goal is achieved). Also, when you pledge for two or more decks, you get a special foiled, metallic A5 foil print to frame.

Available now on Kickstarter for $13.
