A rogue rebellion warrior escapes from A.I enslavement and travels to a run downtime traveling facility in hopes of saving the species. The NOC Corporation, a self-built A.I. establishment controlled everything until our protagonist successfully sent back the NOC3000X1 deck in time to the year 2019 with the simple message - keep the magic alive.

The plan worked - humans not only received the message of the threat but discovered advanced technologies within the fibers of the playing cards sent back in time - technologies that would ultimately lead to the now thriving world - the (new) year 3020, safe from threats of A.I. The playing cards were reborn into what we now know them as - NOC30000X2

The more we depend on technology, the less magical the world seems until one day all the magic will be gone. The deck is now in your hands. #NOC3000X2

The Lepidopterist Playing Cards by Kowaleski & Co.

Every once a while comes a deck of playing cards that stirs you to stand up and take notice. One such is "The Lepidopterist", a strangely beautiful deck of playing cards with inspiration coming from two main sources. The first, being the Chrysiridia rhipheus which is better known as the Sunset Moth. It is a beautiful and brightly colored day-flying moth, found all throughout Madagascar. The second source of inspiration is the ornamental Art Nouveau era that flourished through Europe and the United States between 1890 and 1910.

Both are so unique and so beautiful. Art Nouveau brought an elegant, almost psychedelic, look to the end of the Victorian era and the Sunset Moth has such vibrant, iridescent colors, it almost doesn't seem real. Their special appeal combined to inspire this project. According to designer Ethan Kowaleski,
I wanted to make a deck of cards that would represent the beautiful architecture of Art Nouveau conservatories and butterfly gardens.

The elegance and beauty of "The Lepidopterist" begin with the tuck box. Every detail was carefully crafted and strategically placed. The tuck box features colored and metallic foils, letterpressed and embossed.

Inside, the deck is semi-custom with special attention was given to the beautiful ace and joker cards. All were meticulously hand-illustrated to, not only go with the theme but elevate the deck as well.

The face cards are standard but come with rearranged pips and recolored courts to match the color palette of the deck. The intricate card backs are printed with metallic brass ink!

"The Lepidopterist" playing cards are available in three beautiful editions: the standard edition and two special editions that were created specifically for the Kickstarter release.

The standard edition tuck box features a green paper stock with black and off-white foils as well as embossing. The RELEASE edition features a green paper stock with black, off-white, and brass metallic foils as well as embossing. Limited to 1000 decks. Finally, the DELUXE edition is the most limited and features a burgundy paper stock with black, off-white, and holographic foils as well as embossing. Limited to 500 decks.

"The Lepidopterist" will be printed by the USPCC and pledge starts at $13 on Kickstarter. Check it out!

Less Than 3 Days To Go! American Eras Playing Cards on Kickstarter

The team at ArtLibra has relaunched American Eras Playing Cards on Kickstarter, with a lower goal of $8.2k, simpler, and more affordable reward structure to entice backers to fund the decks.

The fully custom decks are inspired by the history of the four most famous American eras: Literary themes of the 20s that inspired Dreiser and Fitzgerald, Midwest Indian culture that was widely known outside the United States, Wild West, which has spawned many topics in literature and cinema and African South America (New Orleans).

More than a year in the making, all American ERAS characters were drawn by a professional artist based on all the historical aspects of America. It all started with a pencil on canvas and ended with a finished playing card.

Before the drawing, all the details and attributes of the characters, their historical affiliations, character, and peculiarity were studied.

Special attention was spent on the characters' clothing, piercing gaze, hand position, attributes, and color. All this made it possible to get the four beautiful American epochs, which were assigned their own suit in American ERAS playing cards.

The card backs feature an intricate, mirrored design and the Aces are gorgeous! American Eras is presented in two different colorways- Red, and Black, each enclosed within a tuck box in the same style. The tuck cases are made smooth cardboard with soft-touch coating in their respective colorway. Two hot stamps are used for the pattern: gold foil and white foil and strategically embossed.

The Kickstarter campaign has less than 3 days to go. Pledge starts $16 and at the time of writing, the project is 71% funded! To support the American Eras Playing Cards, head to Kickstarter now.

Big Brother Is Watching You Playing Cards on Kickstarter

The "Big Brother Is Watching You" is an innovative deck of playing cards, inspired by George Orwell’s novel 1984. Conceptualized and designed by the team at 3rd Dominion, the deck is currently seeking funds on Kickstarter with 15 days to go. A the time of writing, the deck is already more than 300% funded!

The phrase "Big Brother Is Watching You" refers to the government’s surveillance of the people with the help of listening devices and cameras, in a totalitarian society, where Big Brother is the head of the totalitarian regime. According to the Kickstarter page,
We decided to develop this deck, inspired by Orvel's brilliant prophecy, which proved to have an outstanding relevance in today’s world.

The Big Brother deck begins with the tuck box. It was carefully designed with the Big Eye prominently featured throughout the deck, perfectly conveying Big Brother's idea. On the inner side of the tuck box surprisingly is charismatic and colorful the big head of Big Brother.

Three decks are on offer during the campaign, Silver, Gold, and Cobalt Blue. Inside the deck is the same for all 3 deck colors. The face cards are pretty much standard but with updated color palette and the big Eye design element at the center of the court cards, Ace of Spades, and the mirrored card backs.

The design is cohesive with the overall look and style of the deck. WIth the darker tone, the deck is disturbing yet visually appealing at the same time.

Big Brother deck comes with a unique seal featuring the Eye looking at you and informing you “Think or Sleep”

Printed by NPCC and pledge start at $13 on Kickstarter.

Deck View: Mono-X Playing Cards

Distinct. Gradient. Mesmerizing.

Luke Wadey Design's Mono-X Playing Cards is an eye-catching deck featuring a black/white and grey colorway and designed to explore the usage of a single color and its tints. The distinctive pattern utilizing a variation of line thickness and grainy gradients have been used throughout, from the card backs to the custom pips.

The custom court cards also make use of the line pattern. Half of each court is made up of line staggering to establish patterns and shapes based on the traditional courts. The design of the mirrored card back, in particular, is brilliant! I love how the design of the varying line thickness come together to form a distinctive X. The bold design combined with side details on the face cards makes card flourishes look really good!

Definitely an incredible deck for cardistry! The bold design and the clever use of the line pattern enable for a fantastic illusion while the cards are in motion. The deck is printed by the United States Playing Card Co. and it handles incredibly! Available from your favorite Muphy's Magic retailer.
