Cardistry: Assembly 2021 by Eliot Slevin

Assembly is a small-scale playing card company run by Eliot Slevin (ICO Season 1 winner), focusing on non-traditional designs, produced in small batches. The inaugural launch of the brand features 3 deck designs, Graphic 303 - Dark, Graphic 303 - Light, and Logos in grey.

Graphic 303 Dark edition deck features a one-way back design combining shape and color. Each card back is unique and order Graphic 303 produces 504 different potential unique sequences of cards. The face cards are pretty much standard classic American faces. The contrasting dark blue background of the card backs makes the shapes pop!

The Graphic 303 Light edition is a lighter colorway of 303 dark. Instead of dark blue, the card backs feature a grey colorway with the same shapes featured on the 303 Dark edition. The deck is packaged in a teal accented tuck box.

The final Logos deck is probably our favorite of the 3. Every assembly deck gets a unique version of the logo. This deck is a deep dive into the system, looking at some of our favorite permutations. The deck feature a minimalistic design with a one-way unique card back showcasing a permutation on each of the cards.

All decks printed by Cartamundi, B9 finish on Slimline stock. Only 400 of each design was produced. The decks are available for $15 on https://assembly.cards/.

On Kickstarter, The Secret Playing Cards

What a good-looking deck! The Secret Playing Cards is the first release from the Chamber of Wonder- inviting you into a world full of wonders and mysteries. Conceptualized by Tom Hsiung, a magician based in Toronto, Canada the deck is beautifully designed by Alba Zapata. The Secret Playing Cards is inspired by the stories of the Illuminati with multiple references and symbols illustrated throughout the deck.

The deck is 100% custom and available in TWO editions- Scarlet Edition and Virescent Edition. The custom card backs prominently feature the enormous serpent, with an eye peeking from the body of the snake. The All-Seeing Eye is considered a famous symbol of the Illuminati while the serpent is often represented as a potent guardian of sacred places.

The court cards are composed of angular shapes such that it carries out a rigid ambiance. Throughout the court cards, there are many secret symbols for you to discover. Alba has done a wonderful job combining her unique art style with the multiple inspirations of the Illuminati. Loving the modern twist to the traditional courts.

The bold Ace of Spades has an owl on the design with the all-seeing eye hanging above him. Within the shade of spade, there are also several roses scattered around.

While the court cards and ace of spades each have unique custom designs, the pips have been enhanced. If you look at each suit closely, you can find detailed patterns infused in it. The number cards are designed with a lot of eye-catching colors- deep red, gold, green and black. Giving it a sense of mystery.

The deck is packaged in a stunning tuck box adorned with Gold foil. The tuck features two snakes tangled together, with an owl flying on top of them.

In ancient times, owls are a symbol of wisdom. Alba also illustrated a beautiful artwork on the inner tuck case. The entire design of the box is meant to represent characters of bravery, wisdom, mystery, and the contrary.

Printed by Taiwan Playing Cards Company on the Legendary Luxury Card Finish. Limited Edition of 2000 Decks with Foil-Numbered Seal. Available for $12 on Kickstarter NOW.

Cammeo Playing Cards- Less Than 8 Hours on Kickstarter!

Less than 8 hours remaining on Kickstarter! Cammeo playing cards by Oxalis Cards are inspired by "the cameo", a jewel made through the engraving of a stratified stone (usually onyx) or a shell, in particular the Cypraecassis rufa, Cassis madascarensis and Cassis cornuta. According to the Kickstarter campaign page,
These shells of the family of Cassis have the surface formed by two layers of different colors, which allows isolating clearly from the bottom of the figure in relief. Cameos have a rich history with many variations and different meanings. The origins date back to Egypt in 15.000 BC where petroglyphs or figures carved into the rock, were used to record events.

The deck is fully custom, from the beautiful court cards, card backs aces to the pips and jokers. The card backs feature a mirrored design prominently representing the Cammeo sculpture. The hourglass on the back design symbolizes time and the patience that is needed for the creation of the scul[ture, and the time in which was found in the first cameo.

The beautiful courts are probably the highlight of the deck. Each Cameo has been carved on the shell and then integrate with completely redesigned figures. The cameos are actual works of contemporary and ancient artists.

The Aces are truly a work of art, with elaborated and beautiful design elements embedded. One of the most significant representations of this theme is the Jokers. They are created using the face of the joker and of a person (real) who keeps in his hands the fundamental elements of this art.

Three editions are on offer during the Kickstarter campaign- Standard, Silver, and Gold. The highlight will be the Gold Edition deck, crated specifically for the card collectors in mind.

The deck features stunning gold foil on the card backs and fully custom face cards. The tuck box is also adorned with gold foil both exterior and interior. Only 200 will be produced.

The standard and silver edition will be printed by the USPCC while the gold edition by Ludocards. Pledge starts from $20 on Kickstarter.

Deck View: Aqua Species Playing Cards

Sea. Life. Art.

Aqua Species is a magnificent deck by Perpetual Arts Playing Card Company featuring hand-drawn artwork with ink and paper. The deck is inspired by the life of the sea. The face cards are unique and showcase beautifully detailed artwork combining marine microorganisms, fishes, gods of the seas and structures from the depths of the ocean.

The courts represent the Gods of the Seas and the card back design sports a glorious design that represents the ocean. The Ace is a piece of art on its own and the center of attention of the deck. The seahorse is the Joker with combinations of other water organisms and structures from the deep ocean. What we like about the deck is how the illustrations utilize different shapes and textures with colored dots that enhance the artwork.

Printed by the United States Playing Card Co.
