Wounded Corner's Boskarta Playing Cards on Kickstarter

0

Deck producer Steve Rosenfield of Wounded Corner has launched Boskarta Playing Cards, a thematic deck inspired by vintage cameras on Kickstarter. A collaboration with Indonesia-based designer, Edo Huang, the deck shares their passion for photography.

The tuck box exterior for the deck is fashioned to look like an actual vintage camera-based of Kodiak Brownie camera. It uses premium matte paper with a leather texture. It will have embossing with foil for the engravings and texts, small silver foiling for screws, and a die-cut window with thin plastic to mimic the lens. A special silver that mimics the opening mechanism completes the imitation of a vintage camera!

The card back design is based on another vintage camera: the ever-popular Rolleiflex – featuring the double lens and mechanism with wear and tear marks on the artwork, creating a classic two-way design.

The Aces featured four corner indices, with Ace of Spades showcasing the enlarged pip showing the name of the deck with the date of production date. The other Aces have the sentence “Made in Indonesia” wrapped in an invisible circle.

The Number and Courts cards are based on the classic Arrco Playing Cards. All of the courts are slightly modified with colored hairs. The pips and indices have random add-ons of little texture and film segments as part of a fun element of the design – showing interesting photo artifacts.

The Jokers featured identical film rolls, where photos were stored in older cameras. Each deck features a double backer and an inverted color of King of Spades – film negative. Both the jokers with the gaff add up to an interesting thematic card trick.

There are two editions of Boskarta Deck: HH and LUX. HH edition will have a black color scheme on the card back tucked inside a black leather tuck box with black embossed foiling. LUX edition will have a white color scheme on the card back tucked inside a white leather tuck box with embossed pearl/holographic foiling. There is the Kickstarter exclusive variant: which is the HH edition with black gilded edges tucked inside a tuck box with a numbered seal.

Pledge starts with $16 on Kickstarter for a single deck of choice between two colors OR get all of the available three editions for $64.
