Following the success of King Arthur playing cards, their first collab deck with Riffle Shuffle, Studio Muti returns for a new project on Kickstarter. Babylon Playing Cards are inspired by the wonders, mysteries, and legends of ancient Babylon.
The deck comes in three main colors: Ruby Red – Cerulean Blue – Forest Green; these three colors are in standard ink. Later, a new addition is introduced – Wonders Gold, which comes in gold cold foil. The tuck box features detailed embossing and foiling of a beautiful historical place called the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. It will have an interior artwork of the Tower of Babel, a historical place that was mentioned in the Bible.
The card back design features an artwork that correlates with the ancient civilization of Babylon: the overview of the Ishtar Gate guarded by the entwined serpents and winged lions. The color will be based on each respective color edition.
The numbered cards will feature customized pips: there are detailed patterns within each pip. The courts represent the royals of the Babylon civilization: kings and queens as themselves, with jacks as warriors – they are adorned with costumes with great historical references.
The Ace of Spades featured mythical creatures that surround the lore of the ancient civilization: a big serpent with winged bulls. The Jokers feature identical artwork of Anzu: the winged lion-eagle creature holding a staff facing opposite directions.
The cards will be printed by Taiwan Playing Cards Co. and pledge starts at $13 for a single deck of your choice of color OR $36 for all the main three editions.
