Check out this fascinating release by Seasons Playing Cards. Limbo playing cards explore the first Circle of Hell. Limbo, according to mythology, is a realm where wandering souls are trapped, awaiting judgment either to be placed in Heaven or Hell. It is a state where one is trapped in between.
Taking the theme literally in this deck design, the cards featured artworks that are intentionally placed offset. The back and face of the cards featured two different states (light color scheme and dark color scheme) that are placed on the left and right side, leaving white space in between.
The courts featured windows to a foggy scene with ghostly shadows – possibly the trapped souls. The Jokers featured the same artwork but with different objects within the fog and the text for Joker is trimmed by the border of the card.
The cards will be boxed inside five different boxes with different designs. It features the text typography shifting in the space along with the artworks on the box. The five editions of Limbo are Ennui, Cage, Escape, Detachment, and Grief. The box is possibly made with premium stock with gold metallic foiling for the design accents.
The first release of Limbo was sold out quickly on October 31, 2022. V1 comes with a numbered seal, with each edition only making 52 decks, totaling up to 260. The V2 Limbo is called Dante’s Redux – this version is reprinted and unnumbered.
Each deck will be priced at $65 and you may be able to choose which design you like the most OR you may get all of five editions for $314 on seasonsplayingcards.com. The Pre-Order ends on November 4, 2022 at 8am CDT
