Vitrum Deluxe Playing Cards on Kickstarter

Last year, Singapore-based Purely Idea released a very innovative deck of cards called Vitrum, a deck with sophisticated tuck case. There were two editions: Spade and Heart; and now Anthony Jhoni is back with Vitrum Deluxe Playing Cards, the world’s first LED Metal Deck on Kickstarter.

The deck’s theme is based on an art style originated from Ancient Rome, done by joining broken tiles to form a picture, also known as “mosaic”. It is named “Vitrum”, meaning “glass” in Latin Roman. This deck, combines beautiful ancient art with the modern tech of the 21st century, creating an innovative deck in the playing card world. Two editions are avialble during the campaign, Diamond and Club.

The tuck box is created with laser precision cut mosaic stainless steel plate with built-in LED lights. The inside of the lid is placed on a numbered chip that is embedded within a numbered seal and edition name. The numbered chip can be accessed by using NFC reader app, a truly modern tech-designed deck.

The back design features a centerpiece designed to resemble a perfectly symmetrical wheel with one single point in the center. This artwork will be done with gold/silver metallic ink On each corner is a suit, showing all four suits on the back.

All Aces are designed to suit the glass-fragment theme. Also, there is a smaller pip nested inside a bigger pip, complete with the name of the suit on the bottom side.

The court cards featured portraits illustrated as glass fragment art, representing four different civilizations. Spades showcase the Eastern civilization of Samurai Shoguns, Diamonds features the Colonial Era inspired by the popular stereotype of Pirates, Clubs are the Medieval Kingdom, like the classic courts and Hearts are represented by the ancient Aztec civilization from Middle America.

Only 400 decks are produced for each edition. The RFID chip implanted behind the numbered seal for the tuck box will make each deck unique. The deck can be customized with different colors for the tuck box mosaic, either into the festive colors or color choice by the backers.

Pledge starts on Kickstarter from $65 for a single deck or $150 for both editions complete with a collector’s box and a power dock.

Fantastica Playing Cards by Chilean Magician, Carolina Cabedo

Fantastica Playing Cards is a fascinating deck by Chilean magician, Carolina Cabedo (Instagram: @carolinacabedoilusionista. This deck is a milestone for Carolina, being the first Chilean magician to produce a deck. This deck is a tribute to the Circus.

Fourteen years ago, Carolina was introduced to the world of magic as a magician’s assistant in a traditional circus. She fell in love with it. Carolina told Kardify,

To see the audience’s reaction, especially the kids, stole my heart. From there on, I started studying magic 24/7 and became a magician myself. That’s why my first deck is a tribute to the Circus.

Inside, the deck comes with custom court cards designed by Daniel Schnieder. On working with Daniel, Carolina continued,

I love Daniel Schneider’s work. I only use his decks for work, since they are so amazing and go so well with my style. I’ve been in touch with Daniel for a few years and he became my sponsor, and when I approached him with this idea, he was on board from the first second and interpreted completely what I wanted, he’s a genius. I couldn’t be more happy and proud to have him as the designer of Fantastica.

The back desin is a heart created with the C’s of her first and last name Carolina Cabedo. The Ace of Spades features a Circus tent, and from Carolina’s Red hat, you can almost see the rabbit. The Jokers are inspired by the kids that grow up in the circus, learning everything and doing every task needed from an early age. Carolina mentioned,

I’m so happy to reach this milestone, to be a Female magician and continue to break boundaries. I’m really thankful for the reception that Fantástica has had this day, now only around 300 are still available on pre-order. So thanks so much to everyone!

Fantastica is printed by the USPCC on Premium Bee stock, traditionally cut, Air Cushion finish. Limited edition of 1,000. You can pre-order now on blackroses.cards for $14.

Odd-Shaped. Experimental. Reward.

The 17th Kingdom Experimental playing cards is a one-of-a-kind deck of cards created by Stockholm17 as an experiment for their Patrons Annual Rewards last year. This odd-shaped deck works really well for card games. You will have some sort of intriguing reaction when you handle them for the first time and shuffling the deck could be a challenge. But once you get used to them, they handle oddly well!

The deck features fully custom artwork, from the card backs, Ace of Spades, and court cards. Also, the deck comes with edge print in matte yellow. The fold box that keeps the deck together features 2 beautiful foils and embossing, inner print, and glue-less design. Unfortunately, as this is an experimental deck, the fold-box is not perfect and there are a few flaws.

Printed by WJPCC and available now from stockholm17.com for $33.
