0

Kami Playing Cards, a deck inspired by Japanese beliefs is conceptualized by London-based Edia Studios. Designed by Krishna Da Costa, Kami directly translates to “Divine Being” or God. Although it has a much broader and deeper meaning in Japan.

According to Shinto Religion, Kami is close to human being and respond to their prayers. They have the power to influence the course of natural forces and human events. All of the artworks featuring some of the well-known “divine beings” worshipped in Japan.

The card back design features an artwork of Japanese-style scroll artwork done in a two-way configuration. It sees a crane overlooking wavy seas with a cloudy sky. There is a central red Japanese symbol located in the center of the card. It also comes with a broken border design that makes card fanning beautiful.

All of the Aces featured enlarged pips with beautiful artworks of Japanese natural landscapes. The courts featured the theme for this deck: Kamis or divine beings. These characters are designed as two-way courts with central elements.

The tuck box will be made with premium stock with strategic embossing and metallic foiling. The front side features a crane spreading its wings accompanied by branches of a sakura plant. The back side features the artwork of two divine beings holding a spear guarding the entry to the palace temple.

The standard edition of the deck will have a teal main color, while there is the Special Edition named “Heavenly Sakura”. This edition features white main color, and the cards will be gilded with sparkling holographic foil.

The deck will be produced by Kingstar. Pledge starts at $18 for a single deck of Kami Playing Cards OR $45 for the Kami and Heavenly Sakura Deck (with a collector’s box) on Kickstarter
