Joker and the Thie Crown Edition 2 Playing Cards

Joker and the Thief has launched the latest addition to the Crown series of playing cards on Kickstarter. The luxurious Crown Edition Playing Cards embodies the perfect fusion of practicality and aesthetic appeal, drawing inspiration from life, death, and the profound philosophy of stoicism.

Meticulously hand-illustrated by renowned artist Pedro Oyarbide, the inception of the Crown Edition Playing Cards took place against the backdrop of the ancient city of Athens, Greece, where J&T founder, James Milaras, was immersed in the rich history and philosophical teachings of the region. Influenced by the majestic views of the Parthenon and ancient schools of thought, James envisioned a deck that would not only captivate the senses but also provoke introspection and contemplation.

Now available in a stunning GREEN, and brilliant metallic GOLD, the Crown Edition features a captivating array of imagery that reflects the stoic ethos. The Ace of Spades, traditionally associated with death, serves as a poignant reminder to embrace the present moment and live life to the fullest. The court cards, designed in-house with practicality in mind, embody the minimalist aesthetic synonymous with Joker and the Thief. The court cards strike a delicate balance between elegance and functionality, making them ideal for card games and magic tricks alike.

The Crown 2 Edition features exquisite tuck boxes adorned with intricate letterpress, embossing, and custom seals. J.J. Abrams' TED Talk Inspires Theory11 Collab for Bad Robot PlayingCards

Back in 2007, Abrams delivered a TED talk recounting an intriguing tale about a mysterious box left to him by his grandfather during his childhood. Despite never actually unlocking its secrets, the box has remained a tangible symbol for Abrams, constantly reminding him of the enigmatic allure of the unknown. This has led to one of the first Theory11 collab deck, Bad Robot playing cards.

“I was reading Empire Magazine and J.J. was on the cover,” says Jonathan Bayme, CEO of theory11. “Inside, he talked about his passions, interests, and inspirations, and somehow, as I’m glancing down at that page, I see theory11 playing cards. I reached out to a mutual friend, and so began this collaboration on how we could make an object that was a monument to all of our passions–design, printing, art, and magic–rolled into one.”

On Kickstarter, Marked Bicycle Rider Back Playing Cards

Ondrej Psenicka, the mastermind behind the beautiful Butterfly Playing Cards, is back with his latest innovation on Kickstarter – the marked version of the iconic Bicycle Rider Back Playing Cards at an affordable price.

In a nod to magic’s storied past, marked Bicycle Rider Backs were once a staple in every magician’s toolkit until brand guidelines shifted in 2010. However, the Ultimate Marked Deck made a brief appearance in 2015 as a one-time exception. Priced at up to $39.95 per deck, it became a coveted item among magicians worldwide.

Now, Butterfly Playing Cards has found a way to mark them without altering the trademarked design… by adding a subtle frame with a marking system that’s both easy to see for magicians and invisible to spectators.

The sophisticated marking system is derived from Butterfly Playing Cards’ recently released Piña deck. They are seamlessly integrated on all four corners of the borders. Also, each deck includes two gaff cards chosen by backers, making it an ideal “worker’s deck” for magicians.

Printed by the USPCC on Standard Bicycle stock, they handle like a dream straight out of the box, making them a must-have for enthusiasts and collectors alike. Pledge starts at $14 on Kickstarter.
