On Kickstarter, Hidden Wonders Sapphire Playing Cards

0

Shawn Farquhar, the two-time World Champion of Card Magic, is back with his latest Kickstarter project: the Hidden Wonders Sapphire Playing Cards. This Kickstarter campaign promises to bring magic enthusiasts and playing card collectors a new deck, following the success of his previous campaigns.

Shawn Farquhar is a professional magician with an illustrious career, winning prestigious awards such as the World Championship of Card Magic in Beijing and the Grand Prix World Championship of Close Up Magic from the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques. With numerous accolades from the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Society of American Magicians, and other notable magic societies, Farquhar has made a significant mark in the world of magic.

Farquhar’s love for playing cards began with Stud playing cards from Walgreens, which inspired him to create his own perfect deck when those cards changed. Having collected over 3000 decks in his quest, he sought to design a deck with a classic look and deep, elegant colors. The result was the Hidden Wonders series, which has sold out rapidly in its previous editions.

Inside, the court cards retain their traditional designs but are recolored in dark cabaret and speakeasy hues, replacing the bright yellows and blues with more sophisticated tones. This design choice aims to evoke the elegance of a lounge or cabaret setting, making them ideal for both collectors and performers who appreciate a classic yet refined aesthetic.

Additionally, the deck includes Vernon-styled silhouette cutouts of Shawn Farquhar with captions like “It’s My Job” and “Deja Vu,” paying homage to the classic magician silhouettes. Each deck is individually numbered from 1 to 2000, ensuring its uniqueness and collectible value.

The Sapphire Edition of Hidden Wonders is limited to just 2000 decks. These cards are printed by 808 Playing Cards on thin crushed stock with a traditional cut, making them perfect for performing Faro shuffles. Pledge starts at $11 on Kickstarter.
