War of Currents Playing Cards

Nostalgic. Rivalry. Electricity.

Successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2012, War of Currents Playing Cards celebrates the historic rivalry between Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison over electricity and light. Designed by WoC Cards with a nostalgic feel reminiscent of late 1800s cards, this deck was created to both entertain and educate, bringing the story of the “War of Currents” to life.

The cards feature Tesla and Edison as the Kings, with other significant figures from their lives as the Queens and Jacks. The deck is designed to visually narrate their rivalry, with Tesla and Edison depicted in different stages of their lives. The number cards are modeled after actual patent images from the era, and the jokers include a mini history lesson about the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893.
