Previously, magician Christian Bizau and illustrator Hendi Herdianto released “The Cardistry Game”, a last-man-standing game of performing card flourishes. Now, they’ve both come back with a very promising project! Introducing “The Magicians Deck”, a card game deck dedicated to the world of the conjuring arts designed for both magicians and collectors.

The tuck box takes inspiration from a Victorian Era painting that showcases the magician on stage surrounded by enchanted props. The deck is designed to serve up to three purposes: as a customized deck of playing cards with beautiful illustrations for collectors, as a movie quiz & puzzle to find hidden details, and as a card game for magicians to show off their skills.

The back design of the deck features a stylistic design of a magic stage divided into four symmetrical sections. You can spot the magicians performing the mystifying tricks of sawing a woman in half and levitating a woman. There are so many details of the arts of conjuring hidden within this back design.

The card faces show even more beautiful artwork done by the illustrator. The 20 court cards in the deck (for this deck, Aces and 10s are included) are paying homage to the Golden Era of Magic – presenting vintage posters along with well-known magicians from the past and present.

Each of the courts features the name of very famous magical effects. There are hidden details in the courts that show what magic movie those clues are referring to, it is for the puzzle offered by the deck.

The card game is using these 20 courts along with the two Jokers – featuring the magician (“Less Sleights”) and the devil (“More Sleights”). The game involves magicians performing to each other based on the magic effect picked from the deal – the Joker cards will determine how the game will be played. Whoever wins the most rounds win the game.

The deck comes with an instructional pamphlet that explains everything about the deck.

The numbered cards (from 2-9) are also illustrated, and it is focused on a specific magical effect and a prop. Each of the numbered cards is divided into two sections – on one side, it shows a magician performing the magical effect, while on the other side, it shows a close-up look of the magical sequence of that effect. There is also the name of a magic prop that has been used in magic by magicians in the past and present.

Stretch goals are set to provide better upgrades on the deck. Pledge starts at $12 for a single deck on Kickstarter.
