The Bicycle Draw Like a Boss Playing Cards is one of the rare deck that is highly sought after by card collectors. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Boss Deck, UK-based academic art book author Ashley Edge has released the Boss Deck V2, a deck full of mystifying masks on Kickstarter.
The Boss Deck was actually a companion product for a successful 2013 Kickstarter campaign. The main goal was to produce a drawing course for beginners and advanced artists in a PDF book. The first and second books of the series is available during this campaign. The theme of the Boss Deck 2 is based on those carnivals you might find celebrated in Europe. Elaborate costumes, and incredible masks, these Venetian design elements are littered throughout the deck.
The back design is an elaborate illustration full of details involving Venetian design. There are fans on all sides of the thin border and there are exquisite curtains on every corner. In the center, the multi-faceted star pattern is prominently featured with the lion head on the top and bottom sides. The brilliant design makes look like a vintage classic ballroom where the partygoers danced in their Venetian costumes.
The spot cards have standard pips within an intricate border with indices. The Aces have a slightly enlarged pip inside a fully detailed frame consisting of winged lions and filigree.
All of the courts featured royals wearing Venetian costumes, complete with elaborate costumes with mysterious masks holding up iconic props. The Jokers are also wearing a Venetian style costume, only that they are dressed as their titular role – and there is also a cat wearing a cone head and a big collar.
The Bicycle-branded tuck box design showcase the artworks of elaborate Venetian designs, from beautiful tiles to majestic icons and the winged lion on the front of the tuck box.
